Officials from the Ministry of Power and Energy have assured President Anura Kumara Dissanayake that the country has sufficient fuel reserves to meet current consumption demands, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).
The President emphasized the importance of maintaining these reserves to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply and urged efficient fuel procurement planning for the upcoming year. He also pledged his full support for these efforts.
During a meeting with Ministry officials today (26), President Dissanayake instructed them to create a roadmap for distributing solar panels, received through Indian aid, to 800 Piriven. He called for a clear plan to ensure the smooth implementation of this initiative.
Additionally, the President stressed the need to expedite projects financed by the Asian Development Bank and other foreign loans. He announced the formation of a committee to approve foreign-aid projects within three months, aiming to accelerate their execution.
President Dissanayake also underscored the urgency of speeding up rural development projects, directing funds to villages to strengthen the rural economy. He expressed confidence in government officials’ role in achieving these objectives and urged them to work with dedication.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the President; Prof. Udayanga Hemapala, Secretary to the Ministry of Energy; and other senior officials.
