A meeting on the digitalization of social welfare benefit programs was held yesterday (01) at the Presidential Secretariat, presided over by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The discussion highlighted the importance of digitizing the paddy storage system to stabilize rice prices and provide long-term solutions for rice shortages, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD). It also focused on transforming the “Aswesuma” program and other social welfare initiatives to better support low-income families.
Plans were also outlined for digitalizing the relief distribution program for children from low-income families for the upcoming school term, along with the fertilizer subsidy distribution.
Attendees included Dialog Axiata PLC Group Chief Executive Supun Weerasinghe, Millennium IT ESP Chief Technology Officer Mahesh Wijenayaka, and a panel of field experts.
