President Dissanayake Meets U.S. Ambassador Julie Chung to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with U.S. Ambassador Julie J. Chung today (01) at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo. Ambassador Chung extended her warm congratulations on the President’s recent inauguration and highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the United States and Sri Lanka.

The meeting focused on enhancing diplomatic relations and fostering economic and social cooperation in areas of mutual interest, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).

In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Ambassador Chung expressed her pleasure in meeting President Dissanayake to discuss the enduring U.S.-Sri Lanka partnership. She emphasized shared goals of building stronger, inclusive communities and vibrant local economies, noting that U.S. assistance empowers Sri Lankans to achieve their aspirations while improving transparency, accountability, civic participation, and good governance.

“As Sri Lanka embarks on a new chapter, the United States remains a strong partner, supporting unity, good governance, prosperity, and human rights,” the Ambassador stated.
