President Ranil Wickremesinghe has submitted a Cabinet Paper proposing the appointment of a committee to conduct threat assessments on Presidential candidates and former Presidents to ensure their required security for the forthcoming Presidential election, the President’s Media Division (PMD) announced.
The Cabinet Paper also seeks to appoint a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) to oversee these security arrangements, according to the PMD.
