The final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry, appointed to investigate and recommend amendments to existing election laws and regulations, is scheduled to be handed over to President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Wednesday (17th).
Secretary of the Commission, Madhava Devasurendra, stated that the report comprises over 130 pages.
The term of office for the commission, which was appointed on October 15, 2023, ended on June 30, 2024.
The commission, chaired by former Chief Justice Priyasath Dep PC, consists of 19 members. It gathered opinions from the public and civil organizations and prepared its final report after studying the electoral systems of several democratic countries.
