A recent study conducted by the private firm Lanka Research has unveiled that a significant majority of individuals in Sri Lanka advocate for the prioritization of the presidential election. According to the survey findings, a mere 20 percent of respondents express a preference for a general election preceding the presidential poll.
The research further highlights that a substantial 81.9 percent of the population believes that economic stabilization can be achieved by transitioning towards a production-based economy and by augmenting export activities. In contrast, only 34.6 percent of respondents support the notion of a system change, while 16.5 percent believe that the nation’s development hinges on the implementation of stringent laws.
