Public Transport Declared Essential Service by Extraordinary Gazette

An extraordinary gazette has been issued declaring public transport services, along with the provision and maintenance of transport facilities, as essential services.

The gazette was signed by Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake.

Effective as of yesterday, public transport services for passengers and goods, as well as the maintenance of roads, bridges, culverts, and railway lines, are now considered essential services.
