The Department of Meteorology has issued a ‘Red’ warning for heavy rain in the North Western, Central, Uva, and Sabaragamuwa provinces.
The public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning during thundershowers, as atmospheric conditions remain favorable for afternoon thunderstorms across most parts of the island.
Showers or thundershowers are expected in many areas during the evening or night. Additionally, some locations in the North Western, Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, North Central, and Eastern provinces may experience heavy showers exceeding 150 mm.
