Retired Warrant Officer R.U. Senevirathne of the Sri Lanka Air Force was honored by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, at Air Force Headquarters for his exemplary integrity, an act that recently garnered widespread attention in the print media.
Warrant Officer Senevirathne, an Air Radio Technician who retired from service on April 23, 2009, found and safely returned a wallet containing over Rs. 1.5 million. He was commended for his honesty and sense of responsibility, bringing pride to the Air Force.
His noble act, which involved coordinating with local police to ensure the wallet’s return to its rightful owner, was widely reported in newspapers, serving as an inspiring example of civic duty and honor.
