Sajith Premadasa Calls on Public to Vote SJB, Claims Political Deal Between Wickremesinghe and Dissanayake

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa urged the public to vote for him instead of President Ranil Wickremesinghe or National People’s Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, asserting that the SJB is the only party that truly understands the burdens of the people.

Speaking at a rally in Eheliyagoda, Premadasa accused President Wickremesinghe and Dissanayake of forming a “political deal” to defeat him, similar to the alleged agreement Wickremesinghe made with former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in 2019.

“Throughout history, we have seen how President Ranil Wickremesinghe is adept at misleading and betrayal,” Premadasa stated. “In 2019, he struck a deal with former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to defeat me. Now, it is evident that President Ranil Wickremesinghe and NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake have entered into a political alliance. They have united to form an impure alliance to ensure my defeat.”

Premadasa suggested that Wickremesinghe and Dissanayake may have struck an agreement to split the top leadership roles between themselves, stating, “They might have discussed making one the president and the other the prime minister. This is their political alliance, and they are just putting on a show. Due to these backroom deals, Dissanayake even got the opportunity to speak on state media before postal voting.”

Premadasa urged voters not to waste their votes on President Wickremesinghe. “If you are planning to vote for Ranil Wickremesinghe, I urge you not to waste your vote on him. Cast your vote for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and Samagi Jana Sandhanaya to bring real change. We will assume the responsibilities of the United National Party.”

Premadasa concluded, “The only solution for the country is the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, which understands the struggles of the public.”
