Sajith Premadasa Vows to Tackle Land and Housing Issues Through Gamudawa Initiative

Sajith Premadasa, the presidential candidate of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya, has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing land and housing challenges through the Gamudawa initiative.

Premadasa reflected on his past efforts in the Batticaloa district, where numerous houses were constructed, and criticized the discontinuation of these projects under the administrations of Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Ranil Wickramasinghe. He accused them of withholding funds, which prevented the completion of the housing projects.

“We built many houses in the Batticaloa district. When Gotabaya Rajapaksa came to power, he stopped the construction. The funding was halted. Ranil Wickramasinghe followed suit, and no money was released to continue building those houses,” Premadasa said.

He pledged that, if elected, his administration would not only complete the unfinished housing projects but also create new villages and distribute land.

Premadasa further emphasized the importance of protecting traditionally farmed lands and promised to address ongoing human-elephant conflicts.
