Secretary of Defence Makes Inaugural Visit to Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters

The newly appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), undertook his inaugural official visit to Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters this morning (07 October 2024). Upon arrival, the Secretary was honoured with a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the SLAF Colour Wing and was warmly received by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura, Air Commodore Ruwan Chandima.

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, then extended a formal welcome to the Secretary at Air Force Headquarters. The Secretary was escorted to the Commander’s office, where they engaged in productive discussions. To mark the significance of the occasion, commemorative plaques were exchanged between the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the Commander of the Air Force.

During the visit, the Defence Secretary toured several directorates including Air Operations Division within the Headquarters. The visit concluded with the Secretary’s formal address to Air Force personnel.
