The Department of Meteorology has announced that showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara.
Additionally, fairly heavy showers of approximately 50 mm are likely in certain areas of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur in the Uva province and in the districts of Ampara and Batticaloa during the evening or night.
The department further noted that strong winds of 40-45 km/h can be anticipated over the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, and in the Hambantota, Monaragala, and Trincomalee districts.
The public is kindly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
