The Meteorology Department forecasts showers or thundershowers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Additionally, showers or thundershowers are likely in several locations in the Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.
Strong winds of 40-50 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Hambantota, Monaragala, and Trincomalee districts.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
