The Meteorology Department has forecasted showers at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the districts of Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara.
Several spells of showers are also expected in the North-Western Province.
Elsewhere in the island, showers or thundershowers may occur in several locations during the evening or night. The department has indicated that some areas could experience fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm.
The general public is kindly urged to take appropriate precautions to minimize the risk of damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
