The Meteorology Department has forecast showers or thundershowers at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers are also expected in several other areas of the island during the evening or night.
Fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm are likely in some locations, the department stated.
Additionally, fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be anticipated at times over the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the North-western province and the districts of Ampara, Monaragala, and Hambantota.
The general public is kindly advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
