SJB to Unveil Presidential Election Manifesto on August 29

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is set to unveil its presidential election manifesto on Thursday, August 29. SJB Senior Vice President Sujeewa Senasinghe confirmed that the policy statement has been finalized.

Meanwhile, SJB’s presidential candidate and Leader of the Opposition, Sajith Premadasa, reiterated his commitment to implementing a policy of maximum power devolution within a united Sri Lanka under an SJB-led government.

Addressing a rally in Trincomalee, Premadasa outlined his vision, including plans to host an international donor conference to foster development in the Northern and Eastern regions. “We will hold an international donor conference that will help develop the Northern and Eastern regions,” he stated.

He further emphasized his commitment to devolution, promising to empower the people by implementing a policy of maximum power devolution within a unified state.

Premadasa also pledged to end the era of central government interference in responsibilities assigned to provincial councils and promised to hold provincial council elections soon after winning the presidential election. He assured that the SJB would enhance the efficiency of the provincial council system to promote development in the North and East.
