The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has expressed its full support for the National People’s Power (NPP) should it decide to abolish the Executive Presidency and reform the electoral system, according to SLPP National Organiser Namal Rajapaksa.
Speaking to the media, Rajapaksa noted that while every President from 1994 to the present has claimed they would abolish the Executive Presidency, none have succeeded in doing so.
“The best time to abolish the Executive Presidency is now. Therefore, if there is a genuine need to proceed with this abolition, there should be no delay,” Namal Rajapaksa emphasized.
