In a recent announcement to ‘X,’ Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakkara, shared the exciting news of a remarkable 11.4% increase in workers’ remittances compared to January 2023. Data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka indicates a robust performance, with workers’ remittances hitting approximately $6 billion in 2023.

Highlighting the nation’s economic resilience, the Central Bank’s report showcases December 2023 as a standout month, marking the highest monthly value since April 2021. Sri Lanka continues to thrive in the realm of international remittances, reflecting positive economic momentum under Minister Nanayakkara’s leadership.
