Sri Lanka Central Bank Extends Conversion Deadline for Export Proceeds

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has extended the timeframe for exporters to convert their export proceeds into Sri Lankan Rupees under the new “Repatriation of Export Proceeds into Sri Lanka Rules No. 01 of 2024.” The updated rules, published in Gazette Extraordinary No. 2391/02 and approved by Parliament on September 4, 2024, provide exporters with additional time to complete the conversion.

According to the CBSL, the previous requirement mandated exporters to convert their proceeds by the seventh day of the month following the receipt of the funds. Under the new rules, the deadline has been extended to the tenth day of the month after three calendar months from the date of receipt.

For full details, the complete set of rules is available at www.dfe.lk, the CBSL statement added.
