Chairman of the Election Commission of Sri Lanka, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake, has stressed that only a limited number of individuals are allowed to participate in door-to-door canvassing for presidential candidates.
Speaking at a press conference today (08), Ratnayake stated that current regulations permit no more than five people to engage in distributing leaflets to voters during door-to-door campaigning. He also highlighted that political marches during these campaigns are generally prohibited under the existing legal framework.
Ratnayake further addressed the issue of campaign stickers on vehicles, clarifying that only the vehicles of candidates themselves are authorized to display such promotional materials. Any other vehicles found with candidate stickers or campaign displays are in violation of election laws, he warned.
