Sri Lanka Records Further Decline in Inflation: November Rate at -2.1%

Sri Lanka’s inflation rate, as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on a year-on-year basis, declined to -2.1% in November 2024, compared to -0.8% in October 2024, according to data released by the Department of Census and Statistics.

The CCPI for November 2024 stood at 189.4, reflecting a decrease of 0.5 index points (0.25%) from October 2024, when it was 189.9. This corresponds to a reduction in expenditure value by Rs. 427.75 in the “Market Basket.”

Year-on-year food inflation decreased to 0.6% in November 2024, down from 1.0% in October 2024, while non-food inflation dropped further to -3.3% from -1.6%.

Food commodities contributed 0.19% to the overall inflation rate for November, highlighting a continued downward trend in prices.
