A decision has been reached to reduce the electricity tariff by 22.5% effective tomorrow.
The announcement was made by Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), Prof. Manjula Fernando, during a media briefing today.
The PUCSL Chairman stated that the rate per unit for domestic users using between 0-30 units, categorized as low-income families, has been reduced from Rs. 8 to Rs. 6. Additionally, the price per unit for users consuming 30-60 units has been reduced from Rs. 20 to Rs. 9.
Prof. Fernando also mentioned that a special concession has been given to factories, with rates being reduced by 33% during the daytime. Furthermore, the rates for general-purpose electricity users have been reduced by approximately 20%.
