Sri Lankan Navy Detains 196 Indian Fishermen and 29 Vessels for Illegal Fishing

The Sri Lankan Navy has apprehended 196 Indian fishermen along with 29 fishing vessels for engaging in illegal fishing activities within Sri Lankan waters this year.

The most recent incident involved the interception of 22 fishermen and two vessels off the coast of Point Pedro yesterday.

Following their capture, the detained fishermen have been transferred to the custody of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to undergo further legal proceedings.
