All upcoming national elections will be governed by new campaign finance laws, which cap the funding that candidates, parties, and groups can spend on their campaigns. These measures aim to promote fair competition and reduce excessive election spending.
Prior to the 2024 presidential election held in September, the Election Commission met with various stakeholders to discuss the new legislation, gather feedback, and finalize the spending limits. The commission has also outlined the process for implementing the laws.
The parties are required to submit expenditure reports to the Election Commission within 21 days of the election results being announced.
The election to elect new Members of Parliament is scheduled for November 14, 2024. Postal voting will take place on October 30, November 1, and November 4 at all District Secretariats and election offices.
