The Meteorological Department of Sri Lanka has issued a warning indicating that several areas across the country will experience heavy rainfall on the evening of Tuesday, the 28th. The forecast indicates that showery weather conditions are anticipated to intensify over the island in the following days, commencing from Wednesday, the 29th. This weather pattern is attributed to an atmospheric disturbance over the Southeast Bay of Bengal Sea area.
According to the meteorological advisory, showers or thundershowers are expected intermittently in the Northern, Eastern, Southern, North-central, and Uva provinces. Particularly, heavy showers, reaching approximately 100 mm, are anticipated in certain locations within the Eastern, Central, Uva, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts. Residents and authorities in these regions are advised to take necessary precautions in light of the anticipated heavy rainfall.
