Surge in Complaints Ahead of Sri Lanka’s 2024 Presidential Election

The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has reported a significant increase in complaints related to the upcoming presidential election. Within the past 24 hours alone, 65 additional complaints have been received, bringing the total number to 631 since July 31.

According to the Commission, these include 346 complaints lodged with the National Election-Related Complaints Management Centre and 285 complaints registered at district centres.

The Presidential Election is scheduled for September 21, with nominations to be accepted on August 15, 2024.
