Sydney Cricket Ground to Dedicate “Chamari Bay” Seating Zone in Honor of Sri Lanka Captain

In a noteworthy announcement, the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) team revealed that a specially dedicated seating zone at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) will be named after Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu. This unique recognition is set to debut during the Derby clash on November 26th, where the team will face the Sydney Sixers.

According to reports from IANS, the anticipated encounter in the ninth season of the ongoing WBBL aims to celebrate Chamari Athapaththu’s cricketing excellence by naming the designated seating area “Chamari Bay.” The Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket captain has earned this distinction as the third-highest run-scorer in the current Women’s Big Bash League.

This marks a historic moment as it is the first instance of an overseas dedicated Seating Zone being named after a Sri Lankan player. The gesture underscores Athapaththu’s significant impact on the league and recognizes her achievements, adding a unique touch to the upcoming clash at the SCG.
