The Sri Lanka Air Force has officially received two Harbin Y-12-IV twin-engine turboprop utility aircraft, following a procurement from China. The handover ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Ratmalana Airport.
The Harbin Y-12, also known as Yunshuji-12, is a twin-engine light multi-role aircraft designed and developed by the Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation (HAMC) in China. This model is an evolution of its predecessor, the Harbin Y-11.
Primarily designed for passenger and cargo transportation, the Y-12 made its maiden flight in July 1982. These aircraft have been in service with the Sri Lanka Air Force since 1986, showcasing their longstanding operational history.
