Tamil National Alliance (TNA) member M.A. Sumanthiran has emphasized the importance of political solutions and collaboration, expressing openness to working with the Anura Kumara Dissanayake-led government.
Speaking to the media, former Parliamentarian Sumanthiran disclosed that at recent meetings, there was consensus within the TNA against accepting ministerial portfolios offered by the government.
“There was also a view that we should not join the central government until a permanent political solution is provided,” he stated. However, Sumanthiran clarified that this stance is not official TNA policy, and any government offer of collaboration should be evaluated.
The former MP stressed that the TNA would not pursue any engagement solely for ministerial positions. Instead, he urged unity when an effective program is proposed, saying, “We can engage in discussions to address our people’s fundamental needs, including a political solution, and work together to combat fraud and corruption.”
