The Transport Ministry has advised the National Transport Commission (NTC) and the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) to assign more buses for railway commuters to alleviate the inconvenience they may face reaching their workplaces tomorrow morning.
The Ministry’s attention was drawn to the severe inconvenience faced by railway commuters due to the ongoing strike by locomotive drivers since Friday, June 7.
Accordingly, it has been advised to increase the number of buses traveling to Colombo from Avissawella, Polgahawela, Aluthgama, Panadura, Chilaw, Gampaha, and Negombo.
Additionally, the Ministry has instructed the NTC and SLTB to operate buses outside of the joint schedule, considering the situation a special occasion.
The Ministry expressed its regrets for the inconvenience caused to the passengers.
