The United States has extended its congratulations to President-elect Anura Kumara Dissanayake following his victory in Sri Lanka’s presidential election, as confirmed by the vote results on September 22.
US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller praised the people of Sri Lanka for peacefully exercising their right to vote, stating that the election reflects the strength of the country’s democratic institutions and the dedication of its citizens to shaping their future through democratic and peaceful means.
