USAID and PUCSL Forge Partnership to Boost Transparency in Sri Lanka’s Power Sector

In a collaborative effort, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) have joined forces to introduce an innovative solution aimed at enhancing transparency in the management of Sri Lanka’s power distribution. The newly launched Electricity Dispatch Database and Dashboard mark a significant step towards fostering clarity and understanding in the intricacies of the country’s energy sector.

Initiated under the auspices of USAID’s Sri Lanka Energy Program, the Dispatch Data Dashboard stands as a comprehensive tool designed to empower stakeholders with seamless access to and visualization of pertinent data related to electricity generation. This includes forecasts, costs, reservoir details, and emissions, thereby providing invaluable insights into the operational dynamics of the energy sector.

Anticipated to be a pivotal instrument in reducing generation costs for the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), the Dispatch Data Dashboard is set to revolutionize the approach to managing and optimizing power distribution in Sri Lanka.

USAID emphasized in a statement that the online platform is not only geared towards industry professionals but also extends its benefits to the public. Through the user-friendly dashboard, citizens gain the ability to comprehend the dispatch process, fostering a conducive environment for raising inquiries and participating in discussions that shape the future trajectory of the energy sector.

This collaborative initiative signifies a commitment to transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development of Sri Lanka’s power infrastructure.
