The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers or thundershowers in several parts of the island this afternoon and evening. Heavy rainfall, reaching approximately 100 mm, is expected in certain areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and North-Western provinces.
Additionally, showers are predicted for the Southern province and the Batticaloa and Ampara districts during the morning.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions against potential damage from localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
