The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers or thunderstorms at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Showers or thunderstorms may also occur in a few places in the Uva province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.
Strong winds of around 40-50 km/h are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, and in the Hambantota, Monaragala, and Trincomalee districts.
The public is kindly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
