A team of Sri Lankan scientists has achieved a significant technological milestone by successfully extracting zirconium from mineral sand.
This groundbreaking research was carried out by a dedicated group at Rajarata University.
Professor Sanjeevani Gingaddara, Vice Chancellor of Rajarata University, emphasized the practical applications of this discovery.
The extracted zirconium can be utilized to create robust products capable of withstanding extreme temperatures.
Furthermore, she highlighted that zirconium deposits have been identified in the Pulmude mineral sand reserves.
