The Castle Street Hospital for Women in Colombo has launched a new program allowing fathers to be present in the delivery room during childbirth.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror, Dr. Ajith Danthanarayana, the hospital’s Director, described this initiative as a significant milestone, making it the first government hospital to implement such a program.
Dr. Danthanarayana underscored that separate rooms have been specifically prepared for each mother within the maternity ward.
He emphasized the program’s potential to enhance the birthing experience for women, providing them with the opportunity to deliver their child in a supportive environment.
