The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has announced that the official reserve assets of Sri Lanka experienced a notable increase of 2.3% in the month of January 2024.

As per the latest data, the official reserve assets have risen from USD 4,392 million in December 2023 to USD 4,491 million in January 2024.

It is noteworthy that this increase incorporates a swap facility provided by the People’s Bank of China, amounting to approximately USD 1.4 billion. The CBSL emphasized that this particular component is subject to conditionalities on usability, underscoring the importance of considering the terms and conditions associated with this significant financial arrangement.
