Central Mail Exchange Employees to Commence Token Strike Midnight Today

Employees at the Central Mail Exchange have announced plans to initiate a token strike beginning at midnight today. The decision stems from the absence of a replacement for a malfunctioning elevator, as stated by Co-Convener of the Joint Postal Trade Union Front, Chinthaka Bandara.

In response to the impending strike action, Postmaster General S. R. W. M. R. P. Sathkumara informed News 1st that the 25-year-old elevator was sent for repairs to a private company approximately a week ago. He emphasized that the elevator underwent a thorough evaluation and was assigned to the company through a procurement process, ensuring proper handling of the repair procedure.
