Ceylon Electricity Board Urges Consumers to Conserve Electricity Amid Rising Demand and Dry Weather Conditions

In a special press briefing conducted on Monday, February 19th, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) emphasized the importance of judicious electricity usage in response to the recent surge in demand and prevailing dry weather conditions.

During the briefing, CEB spokesperson and Deputy General Manager Eng. Noel Priyantha disclosed that the electricity consumption for the month of February has already reached 46 gigawatt-hours (GWh). However, he highlighted a significant challenge posed by the ongoing arid weather, limiting hydropower generation to a mere 20% of its capacity.
