The Constitutional Council is set to deliberate on Monday on President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s recommendation for a service extension for Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam. Chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, the meeting will address the recent proposal for a six-month extension for Attorney General Rajaratnam, who is slated to retire on June 26. Speaker Abeywardena confirmed that necessary steps have been taken to seek legal clarifications regarding the matter, indicating the Council’s proactive approach to considering the extension request.
