Dengue Cases in 2024 Surpass 24,000, Health Officials Urge Vigilance

The tally of dengue cases recorded for 2024 has surpassed the 24,000 mark, as reported by the Epidemiology Unit.

As of May 23, a total of 24,227 cases have been reported, with the Colombo district leading with 5,183 cases. The Western Province has recorded the highest number province-wise, with 8,711 cases. Additionally, the month of May alone has logged 1,954 Dengue cases.

With several parts of Sri Lanka experiencing significant rainfall in recent days, health officials emphasize the importance of maintaining clean surroundings and eliminating mosquito breeding sites to prevent dengue outbreaks.
