Department of Examinations Begins Evaluation of 2023 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination Answer Scripts

The Ministry of Education announced today (Feb. 01) that the Department of Examinations has initiated the evaluation process for the answer scripts of the 2023 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination. According to a media release, the paper-marking staff, including the chief evaluators, will receive the same remuneration as last year.

The 2023 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination took place from January 04 to 31 across more than 2,300 examination centers. A total of 346,976 candidates participated in this highly competitive national examination, with 281,445 candidates being school applicants and the remaining 65,531 being private applicants.

However, candidates are facing the Agricultural Science question papers I and II of the A/L examination once again today (Feb. 01) after the earlier test papers were canceled and rescheduled. The examination held in January was nullified due to the discovery of leaked questions in both Paper I and II of the Agricultural Science subject.

On January 12, Paper II of the Agricultural Science subject was canceled, followed by the annulment of Paper I on January 17. In response, the Department of Examinations announced a new date for the Agricultural Science test.

Consequently, the examination was rescheduled for today, with Paper II held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:40 a.m., and Paper I from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
