Sri Lanka’s Department of Meteorology reported that Eheliyagoda recorded the highest rainfall as of 7 a.m. on Sunday, June 2, with a figure of 427.5 mm.
The Halwathura Estate in Ingiriya recorded 348.5 mm of rain during the same period. Akuressa recorded 283.5 mm, while Salawa saw 280.5 mm of rainfall.
The Red Alert for Heavy Rainfall issued by the Met Department remains in effect. Very heavy showers, exceeding 150 mm, are likely in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
