Emirates to Introduce A350 Aircraft on Colombo Route from September 2024

Emirates Airlines announced yesterday that Colombo will be among the initial destinations served by its new A350 aircraft, set to enter service in September 2024.

Starting from January 1, 2025, Emirates’ fourth daily service to Colombo, EK654/655, will be operated by the A350 aircraft.

With the addition of 10 new A350s to the Emirates fleet by March 31, 2025, the airline intends to deploy its latest aircraft type to nine destinations in the upcoming months, providing customers with its latest signature cabin experiences.

These initial 10 Emirates A350 aircraft will feature three cabin classes, including 32 next-generation Business Class seats, 21 seats in Premium Economy, and 259 Economy Class seats. Primarily serving short to medium-haul cities on the Emirates network, the A350’s inaugural destination will be Bahrain.

Emirates aims to leverage the A350 to enhance its operations across the Middle East, GCC, West Asia, and Europe, offering customers more opportunities to experience its acclaimed Premium Economy product and next-generation Business Class cabins, particularly on short and medium-haul routes.

“The A350 will be a game-changer for Emirates, allowing us to serve regional destinations with superior efficiency and flexibility across multiple regions. Deploying the A350 to nine cities in such a short timeframe expands premium cabin options for our customers across geographies, reinforcing our competitive edge and industry-leading position,” stated Emirates Airline Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim.
