The 3rd consecutive edition of the ‘Study in India Expo’ – one of the largest Indian education expos in the world – brought together 35+ prestigious Government Institutions, highly ranked private universities, and legendary international boarding schools in Colombo and Kandy in March 2024, offering a comprehensive platform for Sri Lankan students to choose from an array of education opportunities ranging from K12 to higher education in India.
The expo aimed to act as an enabler for Sri Lankan students and parents by bringing the finest Indian institutions onto one platform to fulfill the dreams of local students to secure a world-recognized degree for a successful career.
The expo was held in Kandy on 8th March 2024 (Friday) at the Hotel Golden Crown and in Colombo on March 9th and 10th (Saturday & Sunday) at The Kingsbury Hotel in the capital, organized by Affairs Exhibition and Media Private Limited in association with SR Global Services and supported by the High Commission of India in Colombo.
The expo was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Suren Raghavan, State Minister of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka along with Mr. Santosh Jha, Indian High Commissioner, High Commission of India, Colombo and Mr. Sanjeev Bolia, founder & MD, Affairs’ Exhibitions & Media, the organizer of the Study in India Expo.
This year, the expo brought some of the prominent NIT’s, IIM’s, and Government Institutions offering great opportunities to local students to avail special privileges in admissions under the international student’s admissions schemes. Students and parents could engage directly with the heads of the institutions, international admissions teams, senior faculties, and academicians of the participating institutions to seek relevant and updated information about the wide choice of courses offered, their career scope, eligibility, admission process, fees, etc. The students could also gain more knowledge about the merits of the international collaboration of Indian universities, the scope of international credit transfer, pathways programs, internships, etc.
Further, the expo offered students a unique opportunity to make on-spot applications to the institution of their choice and avail the opportunity of gaining up to 100% merit-based scholarships.
The Study in India Expo showcased under one roof a wide array of over 200+ undergraduate and postgraduate programs from India’s leading universities, many of which were NAAC ‘A’ accredited, NIRF-rated & QS-rated institutions. These programs included traditional and popular ones, e.g., Engineering, Medical, Sciences, Pharmacy, Management, etc., alongside new-age courses, like AI, ML, Robotics, Cloud-Computing, AR, VR, and more. The heads and admissions teams of these institutions engaged directly with aspiring students and parents, sharing valuable insights, offering on-spot counseling, and guiding them in choosing the right path for their academic and professional future.
The expo also featured some of India’s finest Boarding Schools, including legacy and new-age schools across all four boards (Cambridge, IB, CBSE, & ICSE), offering world-class infrastructure and, global education advantage at an affordable fee range. Heads of these institutions and the Admissions teams were present at the expo to answer all questions regarding boarding school experiences, campus uniqueness, robust curriculum, pastoral care, holistic extracurriculars, etc., highlighting how boarding schools can be a life-changing experience for the students.

Prestigious Schools like Woodstock School-Mussoorie, The Aga Khan Academy-Hyderabad, Mussoorie International School, Ebenezer International School Bangalore, De Paul International School, and many others were also present at the expo offering admissions from grades 4th to 11th. “Our key objective was to bring to students in Sri Lanka the vast plethora of educational opportunities in India.
