Four Pakistani Nationals Arrested in Nepal for Holding Sri Lankan Hostages in Job Scam

According to a senior Nepali police officer, four Pakistani nationals have been apprehended in Nepal for allegedly holding four Sri Lankan citizens hostage under false pretenses of facilitating job opportunities in various European countries. The arrests were made by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigative Department of Nepal Police on Thursday (04), following a tip-off.

Superintendent of Police Nakul Pokharel disclosed that the Pakistani nationals, aged between 42 and 62, extracted millions of rupees from the Sri Lankan victims by falsely promising employment opportunities in European nations such as Canada and Romania.

The Sri Lankan individuals, who were lured from their home country, endured physical assault, torture, and threats from the Pakistani perpetrators. Additionally, their passports were confiscated as they were held captive in different hotels across Kathmandu.

Authorities are currently arranging for the repatriation of the victims back to Sri Lanka. The four Pakistani nationals will face charges related to abduction and human trafficking, as stated by the police.
