Grama Niladhari officers have commenced trade union action by reporting sick leave today (06) and tomorrow (07), citing several demands. The All-Island Grama Niladhari Officers’ Association has confirmed that this action encompasses the entire country, with officers withdrawing from their duties and taking sick leave.
Mr. Jagath Chandralal, the General Secretary of the association, elaborated on the situation, stating that all unions representing Grama Niladhari Officers have rallied behind this action. He emphasized that if the government fails to address their concerns adequately during the Cabinet meeting, strict measures will be pursued.
