The Health Trade Union Alliance has declared that 72 trade unions in the health sector will commence an indefinite strike starting at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2.
Chanaka Dharmawickrama, co-convenor of the alliance, affirmed that this decision was made during today’s leadership committee meeting.
Dharmawickrama mentioned that during discussions with the Health Secretary on March 18, the latter had requested a 10-day period to address their concerns, which expires tomorrow, March 28.
The Health Trade Union Alliance asserts that any officials failing to address their grievances will be held accountable for any significant disruptions in health services and the resulting inconvenience caused to patients.
