Human Immunoglobulin Drug Transaction Investigation Report Submitted to Attorney General for Legal Guidance

The completed report of the investigation into the human immunoglobulin drug transaction has been forwarded to the Attorney General’s office. This action is taken to seek legal guidance for the initiation of further investigations.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has committed to following the instructions provided by the Attorney General for the subsequent steps in the investigative process. As part of this commitment, the CID will re-record the statement of the former Health Minister, Keheliya Rambukwella, pertaining to the drug transaction.

This decision comes in the aftermath of a thorough examination of documents obtained from various officials, including an additional Health Ministry secretary. The CID underscores that these investigative activities are being carried out in close collaboration with the Attorney General’s Department.

It is noteworthy that former Health Secretary Janaka Sri Chandragupta, along with others, remains under arrest and has been remanded in connection with the ongoing investigation into the drug transaction.
